Front & Centre – Spring Season
1 October, 2018 - 7 October, 2018
Front & Centre are thrilled to announce our first ever SPRING SEASON – a variety of new and developing works by Melbourne artists!
Featuring David Torr & Tiffany Pickthall.
Everyone loves a date night. The excitement of something new, the celebration of something already established; the laughs, the awkward moments and flat out horror stories. After 6 years of dating, Dave & Tiff have moulded a relationship based around love, banter, communication, joy & childlike fun.
Join them for a one night only performance as they sing their way through a whirlwind of songs that celebrate both who they are as individuals and as the strong couple they have come to be.
WHEN: 7.30pm Wednesday, 3rd October
Featuring the shOUT Youth Chorus as part of the Melbourne Gay & Lesbian Chorus.
Join shOUT, Australia’s first queer youth chorus, as they delve into songs with meaning. Follow them as they fall out of love with their loves, and in love with their friends. Find your people, then find enlightenment.
WHEN: 7.30pm, Thursday, 4th October
Featuring Ian & Kirsty Nisbet, Shelley Dunlop and Omar Moustafa.
4 friends, 3 colleagues, 2 spouses, 1 night…
Join this group of friends for a delightful romp through musical theatre’s finest quartets, trios, duets & solos. From rarely-performed gems by the greatest composers, to well-loved classics, Ian, Kirsty, Shelley and Omar present a night of their favourite characters and songs from the shows they love. In a one-night-only performance that celebrates beautiful harmonies and emotive storytelling, this will be at least nine people’s favourite quartet concert of the year.
WHEN: 8 30pm, Friday, 5th October
Featuring Shirley Bowen, Paula Chambers, Lizzie Garnsworthy, Rozlyn Gaffney, Gina Goss, Janet Reid, Angela Phillips and Courtney Smyth.
They’re raising their glasses…again! After a sell-out season in Mornington (2012) and the Station Hotel, Prahran (2013), The I’ll Drink To That ladies return for one night only. Delivering a stack of hit songs, join them for an afternoon of laughter, memories and champagne.
WHEN: 2pm, Saturday, 6th October
Featuring Stacey-Louise Camilleri and Stephen McMahon.
Stevie & Stacey (also known as Stephen & Staccas) have been playing piano, singing songs and eating Thai food for years. They’re mostly known for being accompanists in auditions and piano players in pits; but what they love to do, in their un-paid time, is sing. Steve & Stacey may never agree on which Wild Party is better, but what they do agree on is how much they love discovering music together.
This show is a celebration of a decade of friendship, obscure musical theatre, amazing duets and love. It’s time to open the door to Stacey’s home studio* and invite everyone inside to witness this dorky-yet-divine duo.
*Not literally. The studio is small with one couch that barely fits two people/Stacey and her Thai food.
WHEN: 6 30pm, Saturday, 6th October
Featuring Jessica Pratt, Grace Sabbatucci and Darcy Dann.
Did you know the first Australian on the cover of Time magazine was a girl? Or that the first person to fly an aeroplane from Australia to South Africa was also…wait for it… a girl!?
Aussie women have been slaying the game for yonks, like that time Elizabeth Kenny introduced unconventional treatments for polio disease, or when Elizabeth Blackburn won a Nobel Prize for figuring out how our DNA ages.
Join three of Melbourne’s funniest women, (at least they think so) as they celebrate some of the game changing women in Australia’s history. Through the power of interpretive dance, song, improvisation and maybe even a little audience participation, you too can learn just who the women were who helped make Australia the bloody great country it is today.
Because, as it turns out, doing things ‘like a girl’ can be pretty darn awesome.
WHEN: 6 30pm, Sunday, 7th October
Dim the lights and pop the Prosecco… this is how we do it UP LATE at Front & Centre Australia! It’s slightly cabaret and a little bit karaoke, featuring a tantalising line up of singers and entertainers for your pleasure. The piano bar will be keeping it fresh throughout the night so bring your best self for a good time. Entry is only $10 – saving you enough money for the uber home / more Prosecco.
WHEN: 8 30pm, Saturday, 6th October
