Our Little Evening of Misery

16 February, 2019

“Our Little Evening Of Misery” is a collection of songs, poems, parables, monologues and stand up, dealing with the everyday situations which define our society and the world we live in.

Lately the “Spoken Word” has become the “go-to entertainment choice” for people seeking something a little different from the smorgasbord of offerings in the independent theatre scene. “Our Little Evening Of Misery” is an excellent example of the genre.

The collection covers almost 50 years of observations and commentary, beginning with a cryptic discussion on the Meaning Of Life, progressing through a range of topics including but not limited to, the Bible as Historical Fantasy, the Nature of War, and why it will always be with us, the denial of justice in God versus Lucifer, the loss of opportunity when poverty is confronted by the irresistible forces of consumerism, the problem of violence towards women, black deaths in custody, and thankfully, the occasional satirical and parody piece to lighten the mood.

Due to persistent demand from a few enthusiastic fans, mainly in the 18-25 demographic, the show is being remounted at The MC Showroom in Prahran, after a successful season at the Butterfly Club and The Ambitious Act Cafe.

The show is perhaps best summed up by the critic who wrote…
“Our Little Evening Of Misery“ is a sharp, insightful, anarchic, poetic and darkly humorous view of the world we live in”…
