A new verbatim theatre work created from stories shared by Melbourne’s non-binary community.

Someone is having their laser hair removal paid for by their mother. Another yearns for top surgery. A person drives a tire pump through their foot.

Written by Bronte Lemaire, ‘Too’ is a verbatim play created from the real stories and thoughts from the non-binary community. Physicalised by a skilled genderqueer ensemble and covered by live-coded projections, ‘Too’ explores genderqueer identity and its intersections with neurodivergence, race, family, relationships and sex.

After Tip Toe Theatre’s critically acclaimed debut play ‘I Thought You Said’, the group returns to explore the complexity, variance and the utter joy of gender queerness. In an increasingly terrifying political climate, ‘Too’ is made by and for the genderqueer community with no interest in making itself palatable.
